Federal Regulations About E-Cigs

FDA or Food and Drugs Administration is quite serious in implementing their job. And sometimes, this has led to misconceptions that the FDA is siding the major cigarette companies against electronic cigars a.k.a. ecigs. In fact, in March 2009, FDA adds electronic cigarettes to Import Alert 66-41 and directed the USCBP to reject the entry of electronic cigarettes into the United States.

They have a lot to say about e-cigarettes. Primarily the FDA are against the fact that e-cigarettes are marketed as a smoking cessation aid and how easy it is for children to obtain these products. The FDA branded the electronic cigarettes as one of the nicotine-containing products. They are also concerned that "e-cigarettes can increase nicotine addiction among young people and may lead kids to try other tobacco products, including conventional cigarettes, which is widely known to bring diseases and leads to premature death" - according to FDA.

For more info on the medical conditions that cigarette brings, you can visit here.

Last September 2010 alone, the FDA issued a number of warning letters to electronic cigarette distributors for various violations of the Federal Food, Drug, and Cosmetic Act including "violations of good manufacturing practices, making unsubstantiated drug claims, and using the devices as delivery mechanisms for active pharmaceutical ingredients."

Understandably, federal regulations about e-cigs have been set out to regulate the distributions of electronic cigarettes for the purpose of protecting younger ones from being influenced by nicotine.

There are still more product development and studies to be conducted before it can be accepted as another means of smoking cessation. Still, one thing is sure, that FDA should develop more regulations for electronic cigarettes.

Where Did Electronic Cigarettes Came From?

Electronic Cigarettes, e-cigars, e-cigs or vapor cigars, no matter how you call it, has been quickly gaining popularity among smokers. But, have you ever wondered where it came from or where the idea was originally made? According to Wikipedia, "The modern electronic cigarette's design was devised by Chinese pharmacist Hon Lik in 2003, though the earliest known description of its concept was authored by Herbert A. Gilbert in 1963."

Below is the design:

Now we have this design(A clearer picture of the electric cigs):

It was in the year 2004 that e-cigarettes officially came out in the market of China, and quickly spread to other countries such as US and UK. It had basically an objective of providing a safe and harmless means for and method of smoking by replacing burning tobacco and paper with heated, moist, flavored air; or by inhaling warm medication into the lungs in case of a respiratory ailment under direction of a physician. (Now, I wonder how much of that is true!) Bottomline is that, it took more that 40 years to make this brilliant idea come to life.

Now that the question, "Where Did Electronic Cigarettes Came From?" has been answered, I wonder how long will it take to research whether e-cigs are safer than the traditional cigars or perhaps vice versa?

Electronic Cigarette Battery Maintenance

How to Clean and Maintain The Electronic Cigarette Battery

The battery of an electronic cigar is the part of the e cigar that provides power to the atomizer/cartomizer which vaporizes the ejuice along with the liquid nicotine. Contrary to what some people believe, the battery is perhaps the easiest part of the electric cigar to maintain. All it needs is some simple cleaning. Well, if you're still not that confident or you want to see how it's actually done, the videos below just might help you.

Cleaning Your Electronic Cigar Atomizers? How Does One Go About It?

Many people tend to worry when it comes to cleaning their e-cigarettes particularly when it comes to the atomizers. Newbie vapor smokers find it very complicating, when in fact it is actually quite simple once you get the hang of it. Basically, there are alot of methods to clean your atomizers

Here are some Simple Ways:

  • Dry Burn
  • Soaking (sometimes preceded by a dry burn or two in Everclear, PG, lemon juice, tooth whitening stuff).
Note: Do NOT soak in Isoprophyl alchohol and bleach OR any toxic substance!
  • Blowing Out

Also Here are some videos that might help...

Electronic Cigars - A New Emerging Lifestyle?

Everyone knows how cigars have become a part of society. Particularly everyone has know, seen or have been smoking cigars. And despite smokers knowing the dangers and hazards brought up by cigar smoking, many can't simply stay away from the habit. Many say it's the nicotine content that makes it so hard to simply stop/avoid it once you've started smoking. A reason why many people despite all their efforts, although they stop smoking for sometime, still easily get back to the habit. And for that, many smoking cessation aides has been created, but none has been considerably that effective.

Upto now, cigars have been one of the top reasons of disability and loss of a loved one. One of the reasons why they looked for a healthier alternative towards cigar smoking. And then came electronic cigars. It was not originally created to replace or to be an aid to stop cigar smoking. Still, with a lot of smokers switching from the traditional smoking to the so-called vaping experience, it has made a lot of buzz in the community. With people getting intrigued with the new trend, it was only a short amount of time that ecigarettes became a hit. Who wouldn't? With almost the same experience but without the tar, cigar butts, bad odor and rotting teeth, who wouldn't want it? I know I did want it... And ever since I got used to it, I have never craved for the old cigar again.

And what's your story? Are you like me perhaps?
